Tammy Owen’s passion for helping others has been the driving force behind her incredible career. From her early days as an athletic trainer to her leadership roles in renowned hospitals, and now as the head of VIA, she has dedicated herself to removing barriers and empowering individuals to unlock their full potential.
A Journey of Impact and Growth
Tammy began at Springfield College in Massachusetts, earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physical education and sports medicine. Her commitment to making a difference led her to pursue another bachelor’s degree in physical therapy, which paved the way for her role at Buffalo General Hospital. Over two decades, Tammy Owen climbed the ladder of success, holding various leadership positions in local hospitals.
Leading Visually Impaired Advancement (VIA)
In 2013, Tammy embraced the role of President and CEO at VIA, formerly Olmsted Center for Sight. Under her compassionate guidance, VIA has flourished, transforming into a financially robust organization thanks to strategic thinking.
At VIA, our mission is to empower individuals who are blind or visually impaired to achieve independence through our comprehensive vision rehabilitation, education, and employment services.
