Vision Loss Requires the Right Teacher

A Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (sometimes called a Teacher of the Visually Impaired) is a special education teacher with specialized training and certifications in meeting the educational needs of students who are blind or have visual impairments.

The value of a TVI for the visually impaired cannot be overstated. These individuals are uniquely qualified to support the educational needs of students with visual impairments. After all, traditional education requires students to read small text, to see the blackboard, to see the teacher themselves clearly. This can be difficult for someone with visual impairments. A TVI teacher helps the student regain confidence in the classroom and continue their education as needed.
